Astulabee

I came across this cute little shop on etsy here. Astulabee is just Nicole Licht with her prints, illustrations, small objects and wearable designs. "Each astulabee textile work is unique and individually considered, created with lots of hand stitching and special details, utilizing carefully selected materials. Sturdy enough to be shared as keepsake or heirloom toy they are equally enjoyed as soft sculpture for adults." Verdict: completely adorable!

Dinsoaur

Yesterday was my friend Patrick's 21st birthday, so i decided i'd make him a badge seen as though thats what i do. I know Patrick loves dinosaur's so here's his little present.

Again the photo is rubbish (i need to ask for a new camera for christmas), he has a little bit of fluff on him and looks a little like a lizard but i still think he's very cute and Patrick loved him, so all is well.

William Tapply

Will is the first of my friends to complete my plate task. If you dont know, i have bought several plates and pottery paint pens have asked all my illustrator friends to draw on plate each, so they can be hung on my bedroom wall as a little centerpiece.

My camera is rubbish but as you can see it's a cute little sea monster. I love him! Find Will's blog here.

Steak!

I'm such a terrible cook and for the first time in my life, right now i'm cooking a joint of pork. My room is opposite the kitchen and i can smell it from here it smells amazing mmmm. I can't wait to dig in! I watched Wendy and Lucy last week and as i thought, it was terribly depressing it was still really cool though. Also went to see UP at the cinema with a few friends, didn't bother to go see it in 3D it was way too expensive. Nevertherless i still really enjoyed the film, it also was terribly depressing! Anyway i came across this really lovely blog the other day The Unicorn Diaries. Here are some amazing photos off there.

Wendy and Lucy

I downloaded this film and can't wait to watch it tonight. IMDB says: "A woman's life is derailed en route to a potentially lucrative summer job. When her car breaks down, and her dog is taken to the pound, the thin fabric of her financial situation comes apart, and she is led through a series of increasingly dire economic decisions." It's directed by Kelly Reichardt and Michelle Williams plays Wendy. Here are a few screen shots. It looks so amazing but i think it's going to be a tough one to watch.

Brigitte Sire

I have been so ill, recently. I have the worst flu ever and i am typing this sat up in bed. I have the worst dry cough and it seems nothing will help relieve me! Anyhow, i realised that on this blog i've only really been documenting the illustrators i like so now its time for some photographers, i did study it for godsake! One i recently came across is the amazing Bridgitte Sire.

Jason Lee is so cute and great! The All Girl Summer Fun Band are also great and have an amazing song called Jason Lee...

"I couldn't sleep last night, I turned on the TV,
it was one of those late-night talk shows.
And sitting there with Carson D. slagging MTV
was Jason Lee, doing kick flips in my dreams, Jason Lee.
I never realized how much you are just like me.
I used to skateboard, but I wasn't very good
We both like obscure music, and we're both 33.
Jason Lee, doing one-nine-oh degrees, Jason Lee
(they say) Never fall in love with a celebrity
it's just weird and it's wrong, except with you and me
I don't care what they say, this was meant to be
Take me to your movie premier, wearing cheap clothes, smuggling beer
I don't care for Hollywood, but I'd kiss you if I could
Jason Lee, doing kick flips in my dreams, Jason Lee"

University

I'm currently in my second year of university, studying a BA (Hons) in Fine Art at leeds met. Now, i have been really worried over the last months of how i was going to incoporate my crafts into my university studies. I felt that, the idea of 'handmade crafts' and that of 'DIY' used in contemporary art practice would be frowned upon and today during a lecture about post modernism, this further worried me. After a couple of hours though, i did start to realise a context in which it would fit into that of the 'Fine Art' criteria and 'Post modernism' too. I will be carrying on with my crafts but for university will be mainly focusing the idea of a selfmade business. Instead of just creating paintings and hanging them in a studio to be marked and then put away somewhere i will be taking my art out of the walls of university and therefore making it accessible. Which also brings me onto the point that most contemporary art is not accessible to the untrained eye and i think its really sad that regular people cant understand art. I want to create a group of crafters who meet up say once a week, or every two weeks and who take it in turns to share a skill that they have so everybody can 'Do it themselves'. I've been reading books like...
